MAT 2025 exam in September phase will be conducted in two modes - PBT and CBT. MAT PBT was conducted on September 21. MAT CBT will be conducted on September 28. Last date to apply for CBT is September 22 and the admit card will be released on September 25. Candidates who wish to appear for the MAT CBT can register at AIMA website. What is MAT Exam?

Management Aptitude Test or MAT is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA) for admissions to MBA/PGDM courses at 800+ B-schools in India. The exam is conducted in two modes - offline (Paper Based Test or PBT) and online (Computer Based Test or CBT). Candidates can choose the exam mode as per their convenience and city. AIMA had introduced IBT mode exam in 2020 following COVID-19 pandemic. AIMA was the first examination agency that introducted romte proctored exam during the pandemic. It scrapped Internet Based Test or (IBT) in 2025. MAT score is conducted in multiple phases and accepted by over 800 MBA colleges in India. Candidate can choose to appear in any exam phase as per their MBA admission plan and preparation status. They can also appear multiple times to improve their score.

MAT admit card 2025 can be downloaded from the AIMA MAT website. Candidates must ensure they carry session specific MAT admit card on the exam day. Given below are the steps to download the MAT admit card 2025:

MAT Exam Day Guidelines

Here are some key guidelines that need to be kept in mind for MAT 2025:

  • MAT PBT and CBT are conducted from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Candidates have to report to the exam centre by 8:30 AM.
  • Candidates should carry a blue or black ball point pen on exam day. CBT mode candidates will need it for signing the attendance sheet and PBT mode candidates will need it for both signing the attendance sheet and filling the OMR sheet.
  • Phone, calculator, electronic watch or any such item is prohibited at the MAT exam centre. Candidates must also avoid wearing clothes or accessories having metal.
  • Digital or photocopy of the MAT admit card will not be considered a valid ID proof so carry the original copy of your admit card.
  • Candidates must carry two copies of the MAT 2025 admit card to the examination centre.
  • Also carry below-mentioned documents to the MAT exam centre for PBT and CBT mode exams:
  • Identity proof: Any of the following documents (in original) - Voter ID, Aadhaar Card, Election I-Card, Passport, Driving License and PAN Card
  • Proof of name change (if any): In case you have changed your name, you will be required to carry a document supporting the change of name
  • Caste certificate (if applicable): If you belong to SC/ST/OBC category, you are required to carry caste certificate
  • For MAT IBT mode, candidates should arrange a laptop/desktop and check internet connection at least one hour before the exam timing.
  • For MAT IBT mode, candidates should wear formal clothes and keep the admit card and other documents ready for remote verification process.
  • They should sit in a well lit room with no disturbance. No other person should be allowed in the room where candidate is taking the test.

MAT Eligibility Criteria 2025

MAT minimum eligiblity criteria have been fixed.as per the AICTE guidelines. Given below are the eligibility criteria for MAT exam 2025:

  • Graduation in any stream/course or an equivalent degree from a UGC recognised university.
  • Final year graduation students awaiting their results are also eligible to apply for MAT 2025. They will have to submit passing certificate by the due date to the MBA college.
  • There is no minimum score requirement for MAT. However, MAT accepting colleges have minimum score criteria of 50 percent (45 percent for reserved category).
  • There is no age limit to appear in MAT. Fresh graduates as well as working professionals can appear for the exam.
  • Candidates who have completed a professional degree such as CA, CS or ICWA are also eligible to apply for the MAT exam.

MAT Registration Process 2025

MAT application form 2025 for CBT, PBT is common. The process to register for MAT and fill the application form is online. Candidates can apply for MAT 2025 by following the below given steps:

  • Go to AIMA-MAT website: https://mat.aima.in/
  • Click on 'register' option
  • Enter name, date of birth, email ID, mobile phone number, state, city, test mode and a password
  • Use the MAT ID shared in email and phone for authentication

MAT Exam Pattern 2025

MAT has multiple exam modes but the question paper pattern is same for all. The MAT question paper has five sections and each one of them has 30 questions in MCQ format. There is no TITA questions. So, a total of 150 questions have to be addressed in 120 minutes. There is no sectional time limit and candidates can attempt the test in any chronological order. MAT preparation 2025 can be done in 2-4 months provided candidates focus on the basics. Candidates should work on improving their reasoning and quantitative aptitude skills with the help of MAT books, previous years' MAT question papers and MAT mock test. MAT Cut Off 2025

Documents Required for MAT Registration 2025

Filling MAT Application Form 2025: Key Points to Remember

  • Candidates must fill the MAT 2025 application form with correct data and make no error as there is no provision of form correction.
  • Personal information mentioned in the MAT application form will be used for further admission process, so candidates must ensure that they fill the fields with information mentioned in government IDs.
  • Candidates must check the MAT eligibility criteria before filling the application form. Applications of candidates not meeting the eligibility criteria will be rejected.
  • MAT application fee is non-refundable and no claim for refund will be accepted under any circumstances.
  • For multiple MAT exam sessions (in different phases), multiple forms will have to be filled. The MAT fee is to be paid per session.
  • However, camdidates can combine 2 MAT sessions in the same examination phase for additional amount of INR 1,600.

MAT Application Form Filling: Mistakes to Avoid

MAT application form cannot be edited once submitted. So, candidates must avoid the following error while filling up the exam form:

  • Avoid spelling error in the name while filling in MAT registration form. It should be as per the date of birth certificate or Class 10 certificate.
  • Select test city for PBT/CBT and test slot according to your convenience and availalabliity, as once selected the options will be considered final.
  • Check fee payment status after making the payment to ensure the MAT application process is complete. The form will not get submitted without successful fee payment.
  • Details such as email ID, phone number and address must be valid and functional as all the communication by AIMA will be done through phone and email.
  • Upload scanned image and signature in the AIMA MAT form as per the dimensions specified to avoid error.

How to recover password for MAT login, if forgotten?

In case you forget the password for MAT registration, then you can obtain it by following the steps given below:

  • Click on the link 'forgot password?' in the MAT login window.
  • Provide e-mail address, mobile number, date of birth, etc. required to identify your application details.
  • A link will be sent on the registered e-mail address, click on the link to recover your password for MAT exam.

MAT cut offs for top MBA colleges are usually between 80-95 percentile. Many mid-tier private B-Schools have cut offs in the 70-80 percentile range, while low-tier institutes may accept candidates with 50-65 percentile. Institutes use MAT cut offs to shortlist candidates for further selection rounds such as WAT, GD and PI. Some colleges consider the overall MAT composite score, while others also consider sectional scores.

MAT Cut Off Determining Factors

MAT 2025 cut off percentiles for all the three exam modes - CBT, PBT and IBT are same. There is no variation in MAT cut offs due to the exam mode. It means a candidate having 95 percentile in IBT and a candidate having 95 percentile in IBT both are eligible for admission. Also, if a candidate has attempted the MAT exam more than once, he/she can use the best score of all his/her attempts for admission. MAT cut off for MBA admission depends on numerous factors. The three main factors are listed below:

MAT MBA Admission Process 2025

After the declaration of MAT 2025 result, the participating colleges (those selected by candidates in the MAT application form) will invite students for admission. The shortlisting of candidates will be based on the MAT cut off fixed by the institute. Most of the institute conduct Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) for admission. The selection of candidates depends on the following factors:

Documents to Carry on MAT 2025 Exam Day

The identification process at the MAT exam centre will include checking of valid documents with address proof. Along with two copies of the MAT admit card, candidates must carry any one of the identity proofs (in original) mentioned below on the exam day:

  • Candidates who have applied for MAT 2025 under the reserved category must also carry the original copy of their caste certificate.
  • Candidates who got their name changed after filling the MAT application form, should carry a proof of the same.

MAT Exam 2025: Guidelines to Follow

MAT CBT and PBT will be conducted at designated exam centres. Every test taker has to follow some rules mentioned below at the MAT exam centre. Given below are some of the key guidelines to follow on the MAT exam day:

  1. The candidate must carry two print outs of MAT 2025 admit card in A4 size sheet. Digital copy of the admit card will not be accepted.
  2. They must also carry two copies of their passport size photograph.
  3. The exam centre staff will guide candidates to their respective rooms after scanning the bar code printed on the MAT admit card 2025.
  4. Candidates must not carry phones, earphones/hands-free, calculators, jewellery, watches and any other electronic device.
  5. Candidates must not carry bags and valuables to the MAT test centre. There will be no provision of depositing bags.
  6. Candidates are required to reach their MAT exam centre by the reporting time printed on their admit cards to gain timely entry.
  7. Candidates reaching the test centre after gates have been closed, will not be allowed to enter.
  8. Candidates will be permitted to carry only the following items inside the test centre: Test related documents (MAT Admit Card, original ID card, etc).

What after MAT Result 2025?

AIMA will send the scores directly to 5 colleges selected by candidate in the MAT application form 2025. Those institutes will call the students for WAT/GD/PI if their scores meet the minimum MAT cut off. If one wishes to apply for more colleges, then they will have to fill the admission form of those colleges separately. Admission process of MAT accepting colleges usually includes Group Discussion (GD), Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). The first round of selection is based on MAT cut offs, determined by the institutes themselves. Candidates can start preparing for GD-WAT/PI as it is essential to clear this round.
